6. Why did the interest income decline from 6/30/09 quarter end to 9/30/09 quarter end?
The interest income decline from 6/30/09 to 9/30/09 was attributed to the following:
  1. Reduction in our investments due primarily to the syndicated loans sales.
  2. Reversal of $0.5M interest income during the Sept quarter due to the write-off of Badanco and adjustment to one other existing loan’s interest income.
7. What is the reason for the quarterly variance in Interest Income from Control Investments through December 31, 2009?
Interest Income from Control Investments has varied from quarter to quarter through December 31, 2009 for the following reasons:
  1. A general increase over the periods in the loans to borrowers classified as Control Investments that are generating Interest Income.
  2. A reclassification of approximately $160,000 in Interest Income associated with Control Investments in the quarter ended June 30, 2009 to Non -Control Investments. This reclassification was recorded in the quarter ended September 30, 2009.
  3. A reversal of approximately $380,000 in Interest Income from one Control Investment accrued during the quarter ended June 30, 2009. This reversal was recorded in the quarter ended September 30, 2009.
  4. The ongoing lack of Interest Income accruing from the above-mentioned Control Investment in the quarters ended September 30, 2009 and December 31, 2009.
  5. A full quarter’s Interest Income totaling approximately $520,000 received in the quarter ended December 31, 2009 from a new Control Investment which was not a Control Investment in prior periods.
